Standing ready for your command, or possibly watching - waiting - for one of the sheep to get out of line, our Sheltie depicts the iconic long and textured coat and characteristic dipped ears.
"The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him and the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog." (George Graham Vest)
When considering our history with dogs, there's little wonder they've become known as man's best friend. In the past they've aided us with hunting, herding and transport of goods. Today they still act as guard dogs, police dogs and are entrusted with aiding the blind and handicapped. Perhaps more importantly to many of us, they're loyal companions who love unconditionally. Here at Ohm Beads we're true animal lovers and are keen to see this special relationship immortalized in jewelry.
The Shetland Sheep Dog, most commonly referred to as the Sheltie or Miniature Collie was originally, like its larger counterparts, a working sheep dog. Despite their quite tiny stature, these furry friends are agile and sturdy. Known for their intense and unwavering loyalty, the Sheltie makes a perfect companion becoming truly devoted to those in his or her family. Due to its origin in the Shetland Isles, these dogs have a double coat to keep them warm and dry in the most challenging weather. Woof.
